Bronwen Smith, owner & lead designer.

Jamali Garden: Tell us a little about your background. How did you get your start in floral and event design? B Floral: I grew up in New York City and after attending Duke University, I began my career in the world of finance on Wall Street but quickly realized it wasn’t my true passion. With my business background and nearly a decade of experience in sports and events, I knew that I was built for a career in event design. After exploring my creative side through my floral design training, I was able to blend together all facets of my education and background to start B Floral.

JG: How would you describe your floral and decor style? BF: While we always work with our clients’ personal preferences and visions, at B Floral we tend to lean towards cleaner lines and modern arrangements. I personally love pinks and purples so you’ll often see arrangements with a feminine twist when we’re given full creative control. I also love creating statement pieces that leave memorable impressions such as branded floral walls or interactive flower crown stations. It’s amazing to see brands come to life through floral design and artistic elements, and seeing our clients’ visions become reality.

An outdoor lunch in the Hamptons.

JG: This is perfect for outdoor summer entertaining. What was the occassion? BF: We had so much fun designing this outdoor tablescape. A client came to us wanting the ultimate natural tablescape for a backyard luncheon in the Hamptons. We focused on using succulents in birch vases and included other varieties such as white astilbe, lavender, allium, and multiple types of greenery. Sticking to a color scheme of greens and rich purples with neutrals allowed for a rustic feel throughout the setting and tied it perfectly into the outdoor setting.

Birch vases add to the natural look.

bold color palette for a dinner.

JG: We dig all the bold colors you used here. Tell us about the concept. BF: This was such an amazing dinner party to style. We gathered inspiration from exotic locations and design concepts. This was a mix of Moroccan and bohemian vibes. We combined bold colors with both bright metallics and rusted metallics to create a festive yet organic feeling. We loved utilizing the bird cages to construct some gorgeous ‘wow factor’ floral moments.

Fruits and flowers fill a bowl and tiered cake stand.

JG: What flowers/fruits are used on the tiered cake stands and the bowls? What are the centerpieces and accents on the table? BF: We decided to use exotic fruits and colorful florals to place in the gold cake stand and nickel bowls. For the flowers and natural elements we chose to use dendrobium and cymbidium orchids, hydrangea, roses, peonies, and lotus pods to create a full and vibrant statement piece. A small, copper glass buddha completes the look.

The birdcage accent.

JG: The birdcage and gold lanterns are great accents. What’s inside the birdcage? BF: We loved the birdcage and how it brought an out-of-the-box hanging floral element to our outdoor space. Inside the cage, we went with similar florals and fruits found in the rest of the tablescape and statement pieces to create a cohesive environment. Bold orchids, hydrangea, roses, star fruit, and figs were hung from the top of the cage and cascaded down into a full base.

A bubbly bar.

JG: Everyone loves a little bubbly. This white and gold set up is great. What event was this for? BF: This past January we held a 'Winter Wonderland' themed Media Event with a number magazine editors and fashion influencers as guests. We wanted to showcase our work and range of abilities, which include floral design and full event production.

The pretty, white arrangements.

We decided to include an area of the space that featured a champagne bar, so guests could grab a quick drink. We created floral arrangements in marble bowls and lotus flowers using hydrangea, Japanese snake allium, & phalaenopsis orchids. One of our favorite elements was the sleek, white tree that displayed champagne glasses throughout its branches. JG: What are some of your favorite Jamali Garden items? BF: There are a ton of Jamali Garden products we love and we look forward to coming into the store to pick up high quality items. Since we are known for our statement pieces, we regularly come to Jamali to pick up Oasis foam for projects ranging from hanging floral globes to floral guitars. We’re also always on the search for unique vases, which we cater to our clients’ tastes. Jamali is our go-to when it comes to vases, with an amazing selection in varying shapes, colors, and styles. We also love the wide selection of votive holders, which we often use to create an intimate ambiance for each space.
